Community Store to Hold an Invest-a-thon at the Block Party

Saranac Lake, July 29th, 2009 – Saranac Lake Community Store will be at the Block Party on August 6th, 2009 conducting an Invest-a-thon to raise capital. Supporters are encouraged to buy shares on the day or to make pledges that can be settled at a later date or by installments.* Board members will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions. Information is also available on our website www.community-store.org where the prospectus may be downloaded and which also includes a new posting: ‘Top 10 reasons to invest’.

It is also planned to unveil internal renderings of the store to give a sense of the look and feel of the store. Community Store President Melinda Little said, “This will be a key event for us this summer – with just $140,000 to raise to reach our objective of $500,000 initial equity capital, we are pulling out all the stops. Over 450 people have already invested and want to make this dream a reality. In particular, we are hoping that summer residents who value our unique community will want to be a part of this venture.” In addition to this and our presence at the Farmers’ Market, we also plan a celebratory event in the fall for new members.

All founding investors will be acknowledged on a special Founders’ wall to be situated in the store when it is opened.

The Saranac Lake Community Store is raising capital to open a community-owned retail department store that will enhance the sustainability and self-sufficiency of the retail economy in the Tri-Lakes by providing a range of reasonably-priced goods not readily available in the community.

*Shares are sold by prospectus only to residents of New York State ref. 07-1504
